Edmonton Chinese Garden Cup

The Edmonton Chinese Garden Cup was blessed with fabulous weather on September 5, 2009. Sunny with nary a cloud in the sky, and free of wind, the conditions were perfect for golf; one of our golfers even got a hole-in-one! After a terrific afternoon of competition, participants were treated to a delicious BBQ steak dinner with all the fixings. At the conclusion of dinner, our chair-person Wing Choy handed out the trophies to the tournament winners. But every dinner guest was a winner as no one left without a draw prize. So successfully concluded our first annual golf tournament.

Special thanks to our hole sponsors (in alphabetical order): AECOM, AMEC, EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd., GENIVAR, ISL Engineering and Land Services, Allan Kwan, Stewart, Weir & Co. Ltd., Thurber Engineering Ltd., and Traffic Solutions Consulting Limited. Also much appreciation to our other sponsors (in alphabetical order): ARA Engineering, Carmack, Century 21 (Stephen Lau), FOCUS, Golden Rice Bowl, Allan Kwan, Legends, and Bill Lo.

Grand Opening Ceremony for Phase One of the Garden

A chilly autumn afternoon September 23rd, 2007 marked the Phase One Grand Opening of the Garden. Many friends of the Garden, dignitaries, and volunteers braved the temperatures to experience a rousing firecracker display and a spirited Lion Dance through the Garden. Despite frigid fingers, the Alberta Chinese Orchestra also entertained the crowd. Curious River Valley enthusiasts also stopped by to see a welcome addition to the list of River Valley attractions, and the sun even peeked out through-out the ceremony to warmly encourage the ceremony attendees.

As printed in RushHour newspaper, an image capturing a moment during the afternoon's events.

Grand Opening Banquet for Phase One of the Garden

The evening banquet was a sell-out success, with good food, and an excellent atmosphere at Mirama restaurant. Thank you to all ECGS supporters who came!
